This tutorial will show you how to easily manage your Functionss using Database Schema Designer.

• Add / Edit a Function

  1. If Adding a new Function:

     There are a number of methods to create a new Function Constraint.   Choose the one you are most comfortable with:

     • Open Manage Functions screen and click the "Add" button.   See Manage Schema Objects Tutorial
     • Select "Insert -> Function" from the main menu.
       
     • Right-Click the Schema Explorer then select "New -> Function".
       

     If Editing an existing Function:

     There are a number of methods to edit an existing Function Constraint.   Choose the one you are most comfortable with:

     • Open Manage Function screen and click the "Edit" button with the Function selected.   See Manage Schema Objects Tutorial
     • Double Click the Function in the Schema Explorer.
     • Right Click the Function in the Schema Explorer and select Properties.
       
  2. Editing Function SQL:
     • Due to the free text nature of Functions, Database Schema Designer does not try to meddle in their creation.   You are left to your own imagination when it comes to Functions.   Simply type the Function SQL in the textbox.
       
     • Click the    button to log in to your Server and validate the Function's syntax.  (Not Required)
     • There are a few keyboard shortcuts available for screens that have direct SQL entry.   See SQL Quick Tips
  3. Click OK to submit your changes.
     - OR -
     Click Cancel to discard your settings.
• Delete a Function

  There are two methods to delete a Function from the Schema.  Choose the one you are most comfortable with:

  • Open the Manage Functions screen and click Delete with the Function selected.   See Manage Schema Objects Tutorial
  • Using the Schema Explorer, Right Click the Function and select Delete.
