A Naming Convention is a simple, yet powerful XML document used by Database Schema Designer.
It specifies how your Database Objects are named.
The Naming Convention also defines the Schema's Data Types and their default values.
This tutorial will show you how to easily manage your Naming Conventions using Database Schema Designer.
Click "Tools->Naming Conventions" in the main menu to Manage Database Schema Designer's set of Naming Conventions.
Save the new Naming Convention.
All Naming Conventions must be saved in the DBSD directory.
See the "Naming Convention Directory" section to learn more.
If Editing an existing Naming Convention:
Double-Click the Naming Convention you wish to edit.
Click the Copy button with the Naming Convention selected.
Save the Naming Convention Copy.
All Naming Conventions must be saved in the DBSD directory.
See the "Naming Convention Directory" section to learn more.
Click the Delete button with the Naming Convention selected.
* Database Schema Designer requires that there always be a Naming Convention named "Default Naming Convention.xnc".
If you delete "Default Naming Convention.xnc", Database Schema Designer will automatically re-create it.
Naming Conventions are stored in a directory on your hard disk in the same place that Database Schema Designer is installed.
This will usually be "C:\Program Files\eGlop\DBSD\NamingConventions\".
However the actual path of the Naming Conventions on your machine will be displayed near the bottom of the form.
